Leicester closing in on Reims defender Wout Faes
Soon to be in a LCFC shirt!

Facts and stats about Wout Faes

So, we have made our first (real) signing of the season, yes on deadline day! Wout Faes is joining us to replace Wesley Fofana who was joined Chelsea for an undisclosed fee (rumoured to be around £75 Million with £10 Million add ons)….

What do you know about our new Centre Back Wout Faes? He is a new lad up and coming from the Belgium league, making his name recognisable from getting first team football at Reims, making 70 appearances for them at the back.

He is a ‘No BS’ defender, a strong, quick and passionate player, clearly something we have been lacking at the back for a while, and with the departure of Fofana to Chelsea, we need a new defender alongside Skipper Jonny Evans to man the defence, and we hope Faes can do that for us!

He has recently made his first appearance for the Belgium international squad alongside current team-mates Tielemans, Praet and Castagne, and we can only assume the lads already at the club back a move for the young 24-year-old belgium?!

Fans thoughts and views on Wout Faes

“He looks like a solid defender…But can he do it in the Premier League? I hope so, because Amartey is a HUGE liability at the moment, and for whatever reason, Rodger’s wont play Cags, so hopefully he can come in and do a sound job at the back alongside Evans. I’m just cautious at the moment, as if Evans gets injured, i really worry that we will not have anyone to man that back line this season… I hope I am wrong” – Sam

“Yes, we needed a defender to come in and do a decent job in replacing Fofana, but that’s some big boots to fill… It’s tough, as our business model is sign upcoming players on the cheap and sell them on for big bucks, but we’re already in a mess at the moment, personally i would have liked to see a player with premier league quality and experience come in, but that’s not how we roll…” – Jake

Highlights of Faes
