After a few tough fixtures for Leicester City in the Premier League, the Foxes faced Blackburn in the FA Cup Fifth Round. Blackburn are currently 4th place in the Championship, and looking to get a spot in the playoffs or even automatic promotion.

Leicester started decent, having a few chances on goal in quick succession from Tete and Dennis Praet. With Jamie Vardy also getting close on net. Which a few years ago would have probably scored!

Unfortunately, a mistake from Daniel Amartey passing it out from the back, went straight into the opponents feet and made good use of the error by going on and scoring a pretty open goal, due to Daniel Iversen being out of position due to the first error in play.

Getting from bad to worse, Blackburn get a second goal. Off another error from Leicester’s defence, Sammy Szmodics gets stuck in and fights for the possession of the ball through Pereira and Amartey and toe pokes the ball past Iversen into the net.

Leicester does get one back to give some hope of a comeback through Mr FA Cup himself Kelechi Iheanacho. Tete’s quality pass across the pitch finds Harvey Barnes who touches it down, gets to the by-line and gets the assist for Leicester’s goal.

But it wasn’t to be for the Foxes, as Blackburn do well to keep there lead to the final whistle. Knocking Leicester out of the FA Cup!
