Patson Daka linked with shock Leicester City transfer - Leicestershire Live

Is Daka’s Time Done at Leicester?! Article by Lewis Royle

Patson Daka signed for Leicester in July of 2021 for a staggering price tag of around £25 million from Red Bull Salzburg, but is his time in the Midlands finally up?

After a warm-up season achieving double figures on the goal tally, and adjusting to the Premier League, the Zambian international should have kicked on in his career by now, however, his form of late says otherwise.

Without a goal contribution in almost three months and goalless in over five, maybe it’s time for the Daka to make a change, but where that will be, only time will tell.

Galatasaray have recently been linked with the striker, despite already having Dries Mertens and Mauro Icardi on their books. Meanwhile, with Jamie Vardy gradually slowing down, without a goal since December, will a door open for the 24-year-old?

Brendan Rodger’s said that goals were not integral to Daka starting matches because of his other attributes he brings, for example his quick press on opposition centre-backs, applying pressure for the whole team to then step up. Meanwhile, former Manchester City man Kelechi Iheanacho evidently provides a better balance to the attack, with five goals in his last ten appearances.

Rodgers also stated: “Patson is still training well every day and if the moment comes for him, then he will be there. He’s adapted really well. It’s always a challenge coming into this league, but he’s been a great support striker. He just needs to keep working and if the opportunity arises, look to take it.”

Daka clearly has the talent as he proved last year, and he is still a great prospect for The Foxes to have on their books, especially if they stay in the Prem for years to come, but with minutes being a major issue in Patson’s confidence, and in-turn his form, who knows where he could end up.
