Napoli vs Leicester City Preview

The Europa League’s Group stages come to an end and in Group C, it finishes on a big game. Leicester City’s travel to Naples could change the whole group.

As it stands, the Foxes top the group with eight points. This is followed by Spartak Moscow and Napoli, both on seven and then Legia Warsaw in last on six. It couldn’t be much closer in the group meaning Leicester can’t afford to lose as a draw would see them progress to the knockouts.

When these two last met, the opening day of the Europa League group stages, it ended as a 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium. Brendan Rodgers’ side were fortunate to get anything from the match as the Italian side looked dominant.

This has continued throughout the domestic season as Leicester sit in 11th whilst Napoli are just two points behind league leaders AC Milan.

Predicted line-up

Goalkeeper – Kasper Schmeichel

In such an important game, who else would Leicester have in goal?

Right Back – Timothy Castagne

The Belgian has European pedigree from his time at Atalanta, this experience is invaluable to this squad.

Centre-Back – Daniel Amartey

Following some good performances this season, and Jannik Vestergaard’s inconsistency, Amartey could be a key component.

Centre-Back – Calgar Söyüncü

The Turkish defender could be used to try and nullify Victor Osimhen, and with Fofana out, he is Leicester’s only centre-back with good pace.

Left Back – Luke Thomas

Quietly, Luke Thomas has become a regular for Leicester, in a period they have needed him most.

Defensive Midfielder – Wilfred Ndidi

Following his goal against Legia Warsaw in the last Europa League match, Ndidi is sure to keep his place in the squad.

Defensive Midfielder – Boubakary Soumaré

Partnering Ndidi, it could be Soumaré. This is because of Napoli’s ability to control the midfield, these two will help offer defensive stability.

Right Winger – Ayoze Pérez

The Spaniard has just one goal in 11 appearances this season. The one strike came in the Europa League, is there a better time to start your season properly?

Attacking Midfielder – James Maddison

Maddison is in good form, it’s hard to drop him especially with his goals against Legia Warsaw and Southampton.

Left Winger – Harvey Barnes

Since coming back from injury, Barnes have returned to being a crucial player for Rodgers. His ability to step up when Leicester need him is sure to earn him a place in the squad.

Striker – Jamie Vardy

Similar to Schmeichel, who else for the Foxes?
