Do we have a Plan B?!?

After a disappointing loss at the King Power to Aston Villa, we are now reflecting on what was going on and why we crumbled in the dying minutes of the match…
A lot of people said after the match that we did like for like subs, which is pointless as every player has a different play style, so we should not and can not carry on playing this way otherwise we might fall into the same pattern as we did at the end of last season…

Phil Holloway, Editor, Leicester Fan TV, had his word on the match…

“WHY bring Slim on, and try and play him like Vardy. They are totally different players. If you got slim on, i think 32,000 Leicester fans are sat screaming at the TV saying “get a flipping winger on to put the cross into the box”…. Puel did the same to Slim, and now Brendan is doing it.Pointless asking Slim to chase balls down on his own up top, he is slow and looks it, he always has done… where he is decent is in the penalty box with a ball in the air. We all see it. So why did Rodgers put slim on and try and play him like Vardy ?Square pegs in round holes. We MUST adapt to the players we have. In my lowly opinion, that’s football basics. You have to look at the players, and think right, maybe this guy isn’t the best at chasing defenders down, but he is going to cause issues in the box.Lets ADAPT it to his strengths. 20 years of organising Sunday morning football lads, and i know that is what you have to do, work with what you have got. Be flexible. Adapt.I struggle to see Brendan Rodgers do that. Its Plan A, Plan A, Plan A…. substituting like for like players, stick to plan A. Hamza for Mendy… etc etc… i feel like i am venting a bit this morning but i am so bored of seeing Plan A every game, despite the scoreline [0-3 down against West Ham and its still Plan A]… short of players, and its still Plan A… a managers role is to adapt what he has to do. I’m not seeing it. Sorry ! What do you all think ?!”

Slimani isn’t the answer. He’s the biggest waste of money in our history, borne out by the fact no one else wants him permanently
The question I’d be asking is why our injury list is so long since BR got here? Is it down to over/under training, the wrong sort of training? Is there another reason? I’d also argue pointless internationals do not help. Keep the squad fitter and you don’t have the patched up team fielded last night
As for strikers, Barnes and Perez can both play up front, Nacho isn’t good enough but we were never going to spend big on another quality striker

For the first time I can see the beginning of the end, without vardy we look awe full.
What’s it going to be like when he retires.
We bought lots of defenders in the summer never address strikers. Inacheo needs 4-5 games to get going, vardy will come back and he’s out again.
Perez looks championship standard at best.
I think we will be ok this season not sure after.

A draw would have been a decent result, mendy for chowdry substitution cost us.no discipline. he would have spent 80 minutes watching mendy doing what was needed!!!

If you’re putting Slim on you have to play to his strengths or else you’re wasting options. Like you say, he can’t play vardys game as he’s not great with the ball at his feet. We truly need to adapt as a team and get the basics right as we’ve got quality out wide which is perfect for the delivery that Slim needs. Got to play him in a kind of holding role with Madison or Perez running off him or just pump crosses in for him to feed off. I don’t know why Brendan got this wrong

Costa Georgiou
It seems to me that, even though we are technically going forward with strides, we seem to always for get the basics.
You will crash driving a truck if you don’t first learn how to drive a car.

This one-dimensional style of football started with Puel. Rodgers needs to mix things up a bit more.

David Wykes
We showed that we are 100% reliant on having Vardy in the team, even when he doesn’t score he attracts attention from the opposition allowing space for others, if we don’t want to change our style of play have we not got a youth player whose fast to play upfront

Ashley Little
Slim will never fit into our style of play so we need to off load him. As for Rodgers there is a plan B as proven against Man City however with this form and injuries Arsenal, Leeds, Wolves, Liverpool could easily be a run where we get 2 points max. Throw in a European game and the pre Christmas pressure will be on him.

My thought exactly, totally agree, manager and some players at fault for last nights pathetic effort

Mick Masters
Makes me laugh how a player like Chilwell (different pos I know!) was virtually hounded out the club by some fans saying he wasn’t good enough for us blah blah blah yet here we have Slimani who apparently is gonna save the world that might just about get a regular spot in a League One side!!!

Dave Moulds
Totally agree with the way they play slimani his best game is balls into the box high or in the goal mouth along the floor he was very highly rated in Europe and our managers have not played his quality for slimani to give us his A game I’d say 2wingers 2 mids and a striker with him to either feed to or play of but what do I no I played rugby all my life

Chris Bamkin
I’ve always thought there was tension from Slimani towards Albrighton on the pitch. Always looks frustrated at him. Possibly while he was frozen out of the squad?
I think he’ll be off on loan again this week (to Portugal or somewhere similar,) just the club giving him some minutes to get the loan deal done.

Mike Jenner
I agree. Plan A or nothing.
We need different players. Change it up. Also Perez needs to get a grip or go. He has been woeful.

Jason Tite
Yeh I agree! Rogers does try different things but more recently he’s not for some reason? When he first came in you could see the changes he made at half time had a real impact but he doesn’t seem to do that as much anymore? Almost an arrogance about his style of football?

Shane Martin
Completely agree don’t know why he didn’t bring Albrighton on too or change the tactics Castagne had so much room why not tell him to just get the ball out of his feet and deliver it?
