We sent 100%LCFC Fan reporter Scott Davies to watch Leicester take on West Brom at the King Power… Here is his match report…

West Brom visited Leicester, where the Foxes have failed to beat them since 1994 (6 attempts) where City won 4-2 on a dismal wet night at Filbert Street.

The club put on a formidable display for the remembrance fixture with Poppies even grown into the grass in various quadrants of the pitch. The tifo was a sight to behold as the teams took to the field. The minutes silence was marred by some of the away support who should hang their heads in shame.

City started brightly and looked to take the game to West Brom winning a corner in the opening minute from a decent attack, but the early signs of encouragement soon faded as Matt Phillips pounced on an Andy King mistake to force a good save from Zieler who got enough on the shot to turn it wide on 3 minutes.

Despite City having the lions share of possession, it was West Brom who looked the more dangerous as the Foxes failed to string any sequence of passing together.

A dull first half was brought to an end and despite the poor showing, I was somewhat bemused by the chorus of boos from some parts of the Kop.

Jamie Vardy replaced Shinji Okazaki at half time and the England man made himself busy to win a corner from nothing on 48, however nothing was made of the opportunity.

West Brom continued to press and on 52 they broke the deadlock. Matt Phillips crossed from the right and James Morrison headed home unchallenged.

The goal shook City into action and they were level again on 55 after a lovely one-two between Mahrez and Slimani resulted in the £30m man heading home with a neat finish. Incidentally it was the first League assist for Mahrez in 18 games.

City were now on top and had a decent spell of possession football, however on 67 Musa was replaced by Gray and the dynamics of the team changed. Musa was arguably the biggest threat to West Brom but he was taken out of the action by Ranieri.

5 minutes later, a horrendous back pass by Danny Drinkwater was intercepted by Matt Phillips who sprinted past Wes Morgan and flicked the ball beyond the outrushing Zieler to make it 2-1.

Vardy should have scored in 75 but he flashed his header wide and King had a chance on 81, however he put his header straight down the middle for an easy save for  Foster.

Huth was sacrificed for Ulloa on 87 but the Foxes couldn’t muster up any effort that remotely caused Foster any concern.

West Brom continue to be the bogey side at home and the impressive 20 match unbeaten home run came to an abrupt end. No passion, no energy, no drive, no points.

City languish just 2 points above the drop zone, however, don’t hit the panic button yet, we are on the same points as Chelsea after as many games last term.

Man of the Match – Ahmed Musa
