It is a hot topic, and 100%LCFC Fan Jason Smith asked us “Did Nigel Pearson Spend wisely in the summer transfer window ?”

It really is a very HOT HOT topic… we asked 100%LCFC Editor Phil Holloway and Dave Sullivan from www.sportingglassware.com to debate the topic

Do YOU agree ?

Here are a few of the comments from Leicester City fans…

“I think he’s brought well, but not going well at the moment. Albrighton a good player not being played. Danny Simpson good player not being played. Matt Upson- injured. Powell starting to get first team play. Would like to see Lawrence get given a go. But ulloa had a quality start to the season but for the past few week has been woeful”

Interesting. I must say that I spent most of the summer very frustrated by Leicester’s business. It seems that at the minute we’ve only brought in two players to strengthen the  starting eleven, Cambiasso and Ulloa. I’m struggling to see why people are criticising Ulloa at the minute. We all knew going in that he scores all of his goals in the box, but we’re not getting in the box anywhere near often enough, which isn’t his fault at all. I’ll stand by my statement at the start of the season that if Ulloa scores 10 or more premier league goals this season, he’s worth the money. I think we’re short of quality in a few positions. Most of the supporters at the start of the season would have said that a new left-back is a must and that we should still keep Konchesky but in more of a squad player role. I was frustrated that we didn’t sign a left-back because there WERE a few decent ones going about in the summer. E.g. Van Aanholt to sunderland, Cresswell to West Ham, Bertrand to Southampton, Kelly to Crystal Palace. Were we not interested in any of those?? In my opinion the main reason that the diamond isn’t working at the minute is because we don’t really have an out and out attacking midfielder. Powerful attacking midfielders that drive through the midfield have become really popular in the PL in recent years. Stoke have N’zonzi, Man City have Yaya Toure, Newcastle have Cissoko, Hull have Diame etc. Do we really have anyone like that? The closest I can think of is Nick Powell.Personally I think that Nigel was let down during the summer. It was clear that he wanted another striker as well as Ulloa. We were reportedly interested in Deeney, McGoldrick, Defoe, Pelle and many others. Nigel did also say in the final week of the transfer window that ‘it has been a frustrating transfer window for us’. I think the Director of football has to take a lot of responsibility for us not getting a bit more quality through the door. He after all is in charge of the wage ceiling, contracts and negotiations. Pearson and Walsh did say as soon as we got promoted that there wouldn’t be wholesale changes and for the most part ‘we’re gonna run with what we’ve got’, but I don’t know if they were must keeping their cards close to their chests. When we got promoted I was excited about the summer transfer window and I ended up somewhat underwhelmed. ”
